To enter this room one must climb a very steep staircase,
which some have compared to a ladder.
At the top of the staircase you will find this:
A vintage record player/ cd player/ tape player.
Young Housewife wanted this specifically because
Working man had a record player but no speakers. He
had to place his head next to the player to hear it.
Yes, she thought it was
time to go too.
This is the reading corner where Young Housewife spends
her quiet time and where Working man Studies for
High School Sunday School class.
Her basket is beside the chair containing all of her
devotional helps for the day.
These are a few of Young Housewife's collection of Children's book,
rapidly growing all because of a Teaching Reading class at college.
The trunk they are sitting on is another craft project to work on.
The burlap is coming off the outside and Young Housewife isn't sure
if she will paint it or stain it. But for now the books are now housed in the trunk.
The trunk will later serve as the coffee table for the futon upstairs.
This is a unique feature of the upstairs room, a four foot window
above the staircase. The names are a special gift from Working Man.
Before they were married, actually before they were seeing each other,
Working Man took scrap metal from work and built Young Housewife's
name then welded it together.
Then once they began seeing each other he gave it to her. Her only request was that
he built one with his name, so that is one day they had a
mantle they could put both of them up there.
After Working Man moved into the house a couple weeks before they were married,
he told her there was a suprise for her when she came to bring a load of her
goods. She found the name, and was thrilled because she was still hoping he would
remember and make it.
Thus the story of the Two names.
This futon was given to the Young couple from a couple at church. It was Working man's
bed before they were married.
The quilt was one the Young Housewife made while still in high
School. And obviously the majority of books on the
shelves are YoungHousewife's.
The Drying racks fold and are stored under the futon.
the road one day before they were married and shoved it into her jeep.
It's old, and solid. Working Man stored it at his house until they got the house.
Also a side note, it isn't as cluttered anymore.
Just another view of the chair and window.
These were a suprise gift from Working Man the one day
after he got his hair cut. The bigger bouquet was downstair on the kitchen table.
