Footprints in the Snow

I’ll give you one whopping guess whose they are.

Yes, you’re right.

Guinea tracks.

I was so excited, we were going to get snow. Everyone here was skeptical, very rarely do they get snow.

But Tuesday night even we got snow.There was only about one inch at our house, but some other people from church that live south of us got three!

It makes me laugh.

People go into a state of panic here over 1-3 inches of snow:

schools are shut down or delayed (even this morning), people are buying things off the shelves,my husband is off a day of work because people don’t know how to drive in the snow and ice (you’d be safer at home!), DOT doesn’t know when to spread the stuff on the roads because they don’t have much and don’t want to waste it. Oh, brother!

But, let me tell you that one inch of snow made me pretty happy.

It just reminded me a tad bit of home. It gave me an excuse to have a late breakfast with my man: fried ham, scrambled eggs, and monkey bread.

The fire was going all day and most of all night, even though I woke up a couple times because the poor furnace was running non-stop. We’re going through wood faster than Erni and Si can go through a Bojangle’s ham biscuit.

But, we’re nice and toasty warm,

eating well,

and God’s still in control of it all.

What a relief and sense of peace to know that.

He sees where we are,

He understands what we are going through,

and He knows how it all will end.
